The Happiest Day In My Life

The happiest day in my life was during the summer vacation of 1995, when I spent the entire day playing with my childhood friends. One of my friends named Tasneem had a school assignment of painting ice-cream sticks. We always had the habit of helping each other with our schoolwork and this assignment was no exception.

Painting was an interest to each of us and we all enjoyed doing the work. The real fun was when we started spilling different colored paints on each other dirtying our hands. Tasneem’s mother accompanied us as well. With all the giggles, chuckles and fun going on and on, she appeared like another child too. Our aching stomachs and tear-filled eyes indicated how much we were overwhelmed by laughter.

Though fun was our main focus, we somehow managed to complete the assignment appropriately disregarding the time factor. With an intention to clean our hands, we then moved to a small pond in our area. Again, our focus was more on splashing water on each other for more fun. We played with water all evening, which added to our joy.

Amid all the scolding that we may have received from our parents later that day, the happiness that we shared within ourselves can never be forgotten in my life.
